How much does being from Northeast help?

I just realized, no one from the NE that I've talked to really knows about Rice. No one else at my school applied there. Do you guys think that geographically speaking, states like Connecticut are easier to get in from?

yes. The acceptance rate for out-of-state students for 05 was 42% compared to 17% for texans.

really?? how did u find that out

search Rice Thresher for admissions related articles in April 05.

that would prob explain why i got in lol last year....but didn't have the same success with some equally selective schools such as Brown, Penn, etc.

I had no idea the OOS rate was soo high...I may just get in then.

OMG this makes me cry. I'm such an idiot for not applying. I didn't do my homework well enough during my college search and fell in love with Rice too late to apply. I'm from NY btw.

does anyone know if being from out of state helps w/ transfer applicants as well?

mm being in state is not so good.
