Full cost, as calculated by Georgia Tech, is $42,688 for out-of-state. Here’s the link: [Costs, Aid & Scholarships | Admission](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission)

$43k+ other expenses a.k.a. your everything like new tech devices , clothes , entertainment , transportation …

Ps: other expenses can change according to your spending habit , I am an international student too from eastern europe . My parents calculate gatech $65k per year .

Yakker yeah that I know, I was thinking about the wholesome cost including all personal expences, since I am not familliar with the costs of basic utilities there.

Gc1995gc well that is certainly ‘huge’. Does it really takes that much?

P.S. I am a money saver type of person and do not spend much on shopping and all.

The only thing I would say is that the book estimate that they give seems low. DS has had to spend more than that this year.

Thanks for replying. A Couple of thousands is not a problem. But I dont think my family would be able to managemore than that. Thats why I asked if anyone can give me an average total cost.

My son is out-of-state. We spent $41,296 last year, excluding travel costs (which were about $1500 to/from Mississippi several times).

EJaneWench was that the whole cost? I mean including personal expenses and all

bump…

He probably spent $100 or so per month on personal stuff. (That was his own money so I didn’t track it.)

Ohh… Now thats a relief. I thought that as gc195gc said it might cost me around 20k for personal expenses.

I’d say DS spends maybe $100/month… but that’s for laundry, hair cuts, going out with his friends and some stuff he ends up having to buy for class through the semester. I’m thinking gc195c was adding in airplane fares and such which would be dependent on where you live and how often you go home.

@nikrules I dont know if it is so much =) we will see if that money is gonna be more than I need .Our calculation was very basic =) Take my pocket money in Turkish Lira . Do not touch the numbers first, make the sign $ . 1000 TL ----> 1000 $ then double the number ----> 2000$ . This is gonna be the first experience of mine that I m gonna do everything of mine by myself . If I need a new computer , I do not have parents , I have to use my money that I saved . If i got sick , I dont have my parents , I have to go to hospital by myself . I ll buy new clothes , I do have to use my own money . So for my first year , I may need that much money I guess .

@MichiganGeorgia not just airplane fares , everything you can imagine other than the list that school has in its website like housing , books, tuition etc .

PS : @nikrules but do not worry , you said that you re a money saver type person , I am not like that . You can handle that easily with a on campus job I guess . Just calculate airplane tickets etc . How much you will spend on entertainment , on clothes , on coiffeur is totally up to you .

Gs1995gs and michiganGeorgia ohh thanks for that. I thin now i will be able to manage my expenses. Justone more qs. How much cost difference does living on campus and off campus have

Live off campus if you want to pay a BOATLOAD more money.

Really @rundy3 ?

I thought that ON campus was way more costly than OFF campus.

I would live on campus. It’s pretty dangerous outside the Campus. I think it was like $750 per month if you live in an apartment style dorm (single rooms). Your rent would probably be cheaper if you live off campus, but it would be a lot more inconvenient, and you’d probably have to keep finding a sublet every summer.
Basically, I think you would be able to save $200 or so per month by living off campus. A bit more if you own a car (since you don’t have to pay for parking). But paying $200 more is worth it to live on campus in my opinion.
