How much does the weather interfere with your quality of life at Cornell?

I've lived in New England for the majority of my life so it's not like I'm new to snow or anything, although I have to say I don't really like it. How much would you say that the bad weather at Cornell interferes with your life?

It just takes longer to get around to buildings, really. Unless I got sick, I don’t think it would affect my quality of life very much, if at all.

I agree with the above-- you have to wake up about 10 minutes earlier, but other than that, it’s not a big deal (and I grew up in the desert). I do know people, however, who have seasonal depression disorder and obviously they feel pretty down when it’s grey for months at a time. Personally, I think the grey rainy days are the ones that suck, when it snows it pretty beautiful here.

Snow never bothers D…it’s the grey, overcast sameness of March and April that she thinks is a complete drag…

Fwiw, I’ve had friends from Florida and southern California who came to really enjoy the seasons. Reality is, there’s a lot of good memories to be made with the fall leaves, snowball fights and snow football games, and the first days of spring.

If you lived in New England your whole life, it’s really not any different.

^^^The four seasons are wonderful. Admittedly, the winter is long. But you as students have a chance to get out of it. You have appx. a month between semesters and a week off during second semester.

Plan to do something where it is warm. Otherwise, embrace the winter like so many students do at Cornell.

I went to Cornell, albeit 40 years ago. I am from Long Island. I didn’t like going to Cornell, but not because of the weather. I didn’t like it because at the time, it was like 70% men. But that has now changed. So I don’t think the weather should be a factor.
After all, the winters are cold at Harvard too, but I am sure you would not reject Harvard just for that reason.

I’m going to be honest, after the weather today and the general absence of central cooling on campus, I would wholeheartedly embrace the most bitter winter.

It was ridiculously humid yesterday. Even at night, I got sweaty far too easily. :|

I’m sorry, but it’s just too weird that someone on an internet forum is referring to the exact same weather as me… I just think it’s weird that Islander is only like a fourth of a mile away from where I am… I should probably stop now…
