How much experience should a sophomore have?

I'm a sophomore physics major and I am looking at getting an internship over the summer. I feel that my resume is lacking and it makes me a little nervous. I just got a part time job at my school (first one and it's somewhat relevant to my major) and did a little volunteering last summer but it's not relevant at all to my major. I wasn't really involved on campus last year, but I'm looking at joining a club this year (probably a sport club). I don't know any programming, but I'm going to try to teach myself. Of course, if I apply to internships now, I won't be able to list that. Is this sort of thing normal/expected?

The way I see it, everybody has to start somewhere. I got my first internship going into the summer after my sophomore year with only a little volunteering, a part time job, and maybe one club. Companies don’t expect prospective interns to be superhuman in their resumes. Go ahead and apply everywhere you can. Good luck!
