How much financial aid did you get?

still waiting on mine too. any of yall going to the admit days?

19th here.

Ah, 26th for me. 19th I’m visiting Amherst. It’s between there and BC but honestly I’m tired of small school scene.

You know that Amherst is close to four other colleges, right? That’s a very large student population to interact with.

I know that but that’s not exactly what I’m trying to say. I’ve never had the chance to really take pride in the school I attend and get caught up in the excitement of going to a football game. It doesn’t really matter where I go, I’m going to make the grades. I’m looking for the total university package: good faculty, good athletics program I want to support, well-known brand name. I know Amherst is literally 5 minutes from UMass, but frankly that doesn’t mean much to me. And from what I heard Amherst is an incredible school, but filled with oddballs.

Amherst has everything you have listed, save a good Division 1 athletics program for your enjoyment.

Seems like BC might be more your thing, but that depends on how much you value collegiate sports. Personally, I love to watch a football game and cheer for the team like everyone else, but I wouldn’t be completely over my head if a college I plan to attend didn’t have much of a team in any sport to cheer for.

Both Amherst and BC have excellent faculty (but of course there are bad eggs everywhere!) and both do have a recognizable name (though BC may edge out Amherst slightly in this regard).

Anyone still haven’t received their award yet? I sent in my papers on the third of April, and I have received no reply. And even more disconcerting, a 1040 form listed as received several days ago is now listed as missing.

I called last week, and they said that I would be getting my award this week.

This has to be the most difficult financial aid office I have ever dealt with.

I finally got my financial aid package today…and i’m not happy with it at all.
How in the world do i get more? I started a new thread, but no one seems to be responding haha. ughh

How much did you get? What is your EFC?

I still haven’t gotten mine. I called today and they said I was still missing forms, even though I know I sent them. I do not know when I’ll get my award. This is very frustrating.

Hmm… Hey, Greenapple, did you send in your tax forms signed? I think that might be the problem. My 1040’s were unsigned, so I will probably have to send in another copy.

They won’t look at it until the tax returns are signed.

@XX55XX

I got a $6k scholarship/grant…with the work/study and loans it comes out to a total of $11k…which is $11k less than villanova…
my efc is $30k =\
what do i doooo D:

omg…i hope this doesn’t happen to me. that sucks farside.

Got mine today. Was decent:

EFC = 0

Federal SEOG: $400
Federal Pell Grant: $5350
State Scholarship: 2400
Boston College Scholarship: $29100
Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan: $3500
Federal Perkins Loan: $1500
Federal Work Study: $2200

Total: $44450

i got a 20g scholarship plus stafford loans but it still leaves me with about 120g in debt in the cost of education alone not to mention the cost of travel and miscellaneous. not even worth it other schools gave me waaaaay better offers.

Got mine today. I think it’s really really good.

EFC= 2472

Federal SEOG: $400
Federal Pell Grant: $2700
State Scholarship: 400
Boston College Grant: $42300
Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan: $3500
Federal Perkins Loan: $1300
Federal Work Study: $00

Total: $50600

Total cost for resident students is $53,300. So, compared to my EFC, I think it is a sweet deal.

That’s a pretty nice package, SRB2006. Way nicer than mine.

I had put down myself as a resident student by mistake, so I am probably going to appeal this package as a commuter student. Hopefully, they will take back the loans, and take back a few thousand dollars in grants.

If they can cough up $35,000 in grants and work study, I think I will be good. The remaining $5,000-$6,000 my family can cover.

I know!! It’s way better than what I expected!!! But I was kinda surprised to see that I didn’t get any work-study. :(

I am trying to decide if I should commute or live on campus. I live in Malden so it would make sense if I could commute and my parents probably would have to pay less, if I commute.

BTW, Where do you live XX55XX??

I live in Brighton. Just two miles away from the Upper Campus.

By the way, isn’t Malden quite far from Chestnut Hill? Unless you drive, commuting through the city and out into Chestnut Hill probably won’t be easy…

i’m so jealous! My financial aid adviser is so …tough to crack? Hes not being very responsive and open-minded to my situation =</p>
