How much harder is HS than Middle School?

I mean I am going into HS, and MS was pretty easy, and now I will have 4 Studies

So how much harder is HS?

I saw this question and thought to myself, “what the hell did we even do in middle school?”

From a senior’s POV, it’s not that high school is hard, but everything before is just too easy (though college students could say the same thing about high school, I’m sure)

It’s the woooorst.
Nah, just don’t procrastinate, stay out of drama, accept that you may grow up and away from your friends and you’ll be fine.
But, really, don’t procrastinate.

Depends on the classes you’ll take. If you’re taking 5+ AP’s, then yes, it will be MUCH harder than ms. If you’re in all college prep classes, then hs will be incredibly easy.

The junior high I went to didn’t prepare us at all! High school might seem really hard at first but you get used to it.

Middle school doesn’t even compare. But the work in high school is definitely doable, just a bit more time/effort necessary to get the same grades as in middle school

For me, history in middle school was a lot harder than high school because of a very difficult teacher. He assigned an extensive project every week, every test had 5 essays from memory, etc.

Holistically, high school is much more difficult than middle school. Very doable though.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yes, I also thought high school wouldn’t be that hard. It can’t be that bad, I thought to myself.
I was wrong.
And it’s not just because of all the work. High school’s just not fun for me. I guess it depends who you are.

I was terrified of high school, but it hasn’t been that bad. Senior year has been my worst year, but more for personal reasons than academic.

As an aside, how have you been chancing people with any degree of confidence when you’re in middle school?? o_O

@Bodangles
I just made implications based on previous knowledge on other “What Are My Chances?” threads.

And thanks you guys!
it seems HS will just be different, if I avoid all of those drama stuff, it sounds I will be fine

Honestly, we did absolutely nothing in middle school, but, then again, I haven’t had to do too much more academically in high school either. Be prepared to have more homework. When you first get to high school, try to get your friends together to do activities together. Start sports and clubs in your freshman year and plan on staying in them all four years in order to get the most from them. Most importantly, when you get to your junior and senior years (possibly sophomore too, I guess), do not procrastinate or you WILL lose sleep. I don’t mean just a little tired, I mean a night when you manage to get 6 hours of sleep will seem like a blessing.

Ok, I will make sure to use my Study Halls as efficiently as I can.
Thanks!

My 8th grade classes actually did a pretty good job preparing me for high school, so the transition wasn’t very bad. Plus, freshman year was not difficult for me so it’s easy transiting into high school. Just be involved in school and activities, don’t procrastinate, and do your assignments and you’ll be fine. Sophomore and Junior years are a different story though. I call sophomore class as being the middle child, you don’t get the special treatment like you get as being a freshman, and you it’s a long way to look forward to college, so a lot of people lose their motivation in their sophomore year. Plus, the inclusion of World History in sophomore (no history class in freshman year in my school) means a jump in homework time, and a lot more time consuming work, so if you’re not prepared for that and you slack off, then yes it’ll be difficult. Everything is more independent studying as the years go by, so be prepared do a lot of learning by yourself if you’re used to only do what the teacher says. Junior year is labeled as the torture year, if you survive the year, then you survive high school. That’s the year of introduction of AP classes at my school, so it’s definitely harder. And it’s the most important year of your HS career too. And yes, please leave the drama behind, it’s just a waste of time and doesn’t benefit anybody. You will soon learn that transitioning into HS is not as scary as you thought it would, and the upper classmen are very nice and supportive, so don’t be scared to ask them for guidance. So in general, for me, HS is not that much harder, just requires more discipline and time management.

Depends on your schedule. I take 7 APs so it’s definitely a HUGE step up from Middle School. For me, Middle School was like a pleasant paradise, no concern and no worries, just smooooth. Then I entered 9th grade, which is still pretty laid back considering that my school only had a few advanced classes. And then I entered the Gates of Hades manifested into 10th grade, and this my friend is the point in which all the fun begins. After 10th, the years get progressively more painful.

@Achi yea, no APs in 9th Grade, but 10th Grade has a lot, uh oh :l

@TheR I hope I do not lose steam for HS, or at least until Senior year, Junior sounds awful >:O

I’m just a sophomore, so I don’t have the whole perspective, but I enjoy high school about a billion times more than middle school. Try to do really well freshman year to boost your GPA, start doing some ECs, make some friends, and you’ll be fine.
I think most of my freshman classes were ok except for the hard math/science ones but I struggled through! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. One of the big differences b/t high school and middle school is that in high school your teacher probably won’t talk to you if you’re getting straight Cs (or Ds) on tests. So you have to initiate getting help. But there are a lot of resources for it- tutoring at school, sessions w/ your teacher, online stuff.
Good luck!

Ok, we have a Learning Center, where we can go for help during Study Halls, so I will use that as much as I can (when I need help :P)
