How much harder is it to get in NYU Stern than NYU?

<p>Hi</p>

<p>I'm interested in applying to NYU Stern but I'm a little confused with the admissions stats for this particular school. I know the SAT + SATII requirements for NYU in general but I hear that Stern's stats are a lot higher and I can't find a proper answer on the web (someone told me that you need about the same scores as ivy leagues?)</p>

<p>These are NYU's sat scores as of 2011:
CR 630-720 M 630-740 W 640-730
Accept rate 32%</p>

<p>Does anyone know the expected scores for applicants to stern or what would make them more competitive and also a rough acceptance rate?</p>

<p>It is reasonably harder getting into Stern/Tisch than the rest of NYU simply because those schools don’t have LSP as a fallback.</p>

<p>Students in the core program can transfer into certain programs in Tisch and Steinhardt (as well as all majors in CAS or Gallatin.) It is true that it does not feed into Stern. When people talk about the selectivity of Tisch it is based on the fact that its programs are audition/ portfolio based. Steinhardt programs that are portfolio or audition based can also be very selective. However, if you are purely talking about academics–not talent–then Stern remains the hardest school to gain acceptance to.</p>

<p>NYU Stern/Tisch are considered the most selective, with CAS falling not far behind. All have acceptance rates in the 20s%. SAT scores for CAS and Stern do not differ drastically, most students scoring above 2,000 or 2,100.</p>
