Hey guys,
I'm a Canadian student and my school only offers APs in our senior year. I've decided to take:

AP Chem
AP Physics II
AP Calc AB
AP Microecon

In addition to those classes, I'll also be taking:

Biology 12
French Enriched 12
English 12
Senior Wind Ensemble

Oh and also Graduation Transitions/Planning 12

In Canada we normally take 8 classes a year and because there are many classes that are mandatory from grade 8 to grade 12, it has left me with an extremely crammed schedule for grade 12. I'm also interested in Psychology and World History but I think that it'll be too much. And it's weird because classes like History and Psych are ones I'm very interested in, but I get lower marks in those classes. As for the sciences, I'm not as passionate about them (I do find it interesting still) but I tend to excel in those classes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ^^

(I posted this already in the wrong place so I'm posting it again)

So, the only AP I’m currently taking out of those that you’ve mentioned is AP Calc AB. The homework we get isn’t too bad, of course some questions might be hard but our teacher lets us ask her the next day as long as we at least attempted to do the problem. The class is nice because you usually finish learning all the material early so that you can spend last months practicing the AP format and test questions. So I’d say the homework for AP Calc AB (at least in my school) isn’t a lot. But there are a lot of in class quizzes and classwork.

I took AP Calc AB last year, and the work took me quite a bit of time. I would say I spent about 1.5-2 hrs every class period (45-60 min daily - I only had the class every other day). That’s including the assigned work and extra stuff I did since I struggled with the class initially.

I’m in AP Physics B this year, and Physics II is essentially the second half of that. I would say I have about 3 hours of work a week between assignments, labs, and studying, although it’s unevenly distributed so it’s not accurate (some weeks we have like 3 labs due, other weeks have absolutely nothing… so it’s hard to accurately guess). Significantly less work than Calc was for me. And Physics II should be a bit less than that.

AP Chem I haven’t taken, but I’ve heard that it’s brutal.

I haven’t taken Micro either, but I am doing an independent study class in Macro. Obviously it’s not the same as taking the class, but I would say I spend maybe 10 minutes a day learning it. You’ll probably have some busy work thrown in but I wouldn’t expect this class to be too much work unless you have a particularly difficult teacher.

It will vary with the teacher i’m sure. From my experience:

Econ - 20-30 minutes
Calc AB - 45-60 minutes
Physics 2 - 45 minutes, more when writing lab reports
Chem - 1 hour, more when writing lab reports

Thanks for the replies guys. So I’m assuming around 3-4 hours for the APs plus another two hours or so for my other classes. Well, better get my time management sorted out for next year xD

Like any class, homework isn’t super consistent. It would not be a stretch to say you will not have homework on some days, and during projects, you could be doing busywork all day.

AP Chem> In my class there are ways to get around almost all of the homework except labs. But those are weekly now so I guess still a lot.
AP Physics> a lot
AP Calc AB> at my school it’s like 3 hours worth of homework a night

Thanks for the replies! It looks like a lot TT^TT
If I buy the PR books and review them over the summer, will it help?
