How much is typical utilty @ berkeley apts?

Me and my roommate are looking for apartments and some say that tenants have to pay for electric/water, etc. I'm not sure how much this factors in for our monthly bills, can anyone give a rough estimate for a 2br apt?

i’d say around 40 per person. that will vary depending on your internet plan, if you get cable, etc.

I think the essentials would be:
Internet
Gas
Electricity
Water
Garbage.

Estimate?

And by 40 per person so did you take into account it’s two of us or the usage per person?

for most places, water and garbage are included. so then it’s just PG&E and internet. I don’t really understand your last question, but considering it’s a two bedroom with two people, and that you’ll be getting an internet plan better than the lowest speed (which is super slow by the way)…yeah about 40 bucks per person.

DD’s half of PG&E runs about $15 a month and her half of the cable internet is about $20. She doesn’t have cable tv.

Who’s DD? o.O

Thanks for the info.

The landlord pays water and garbage.

dear daughter

So how much is a decent apartment including rent and utilities? What’s the best value? Dorm, single apartment, 2 person two bedroom apartment, 3 person apartment etc…Would $800/month be good enough to live comfortably? Either for a regular single apartment or having 1 or 2 other roommates who all pay $800 or so each

There seems to be quite a range. DD’s apartment is relatively large and one mile from the RSF with 2BR’s and 2 baths for $1650/mo. (We measured from the RSF because most of her classes seem to be near there.) She has two friends who pay $1400 for a 1BR near Gourmet Ghetto. I’m pretty sure her BF pays a lot less–don’t know how much but he shares a room in a large house further from campus. Generally, the dorms are expensive.

… Still have no idea what or who dear daughter is… is it your daughter??? why are you saying dear daughter??

My PG&E runs about $20 a month, for two people, that’s gas and electric. Usually water/garbage are paid for. Internet is another $30/mo.

DD or Dear Daughter is referring to her daughter. It’s forum lingo, get with it.

On-topic: I have a house with 4 other people. I’d say we pay about $50 a month. But that includes $16 for gardening. So basically ~$34 for internet, PG&E, and water.

Thanks for the answers
