How much longer will I stare at this status?!

SON was accepted to UP in late December. I think it helped he applied as an education major (being a dude) and PSu has a soft spot for his HS and there were 30% less apps this year from his school (Maryland’s apps went from like 43 last year to 22 this year) I also think the fact that he didn’t opt for an alternate campus MIGHT have helped as well. He’s waiting for a few more schools but leaning toward vermont

to everyone that was accepted to summer… are you in state or OOS???

imanicollegehelp, interesting thing is my son applied to the College of Education for Special Education. I also thought he might have a shot seeing as he is a dude lol. But, as I stated, we put Altoona after summer session option. That probably did him in.

The good news is that when he came home from school today he was actually totally fine about it all. He said he thought about it all day and is happy to go to Pitt in the fall. Also, happy to have an entire summer to have fun (last few years summers he has worked a lot and had football two a days). In the end, it all works out I guess.

Motherto: Gosh, that just stinks! (And there goes my theory for the dude thing) Just goes to show, there’s no science to it…different adcoms, different days, How was his rigor? APparently PSU is more “numbers” than “Holistic” I think they also have OOS schools they just plain like. Our Naviance admission stats for Pitt are considerably higher than PSU/UP! So congrats!

Hi rigor was pretty good. Calculus as a junior. Statistics as a senior. He had about 15 honors courses. Pitt admission stats are higher for naviance at our school too. I honestly think he got into Pitt because he applied in July and they liked his essay (sent him an email to that effect) and the fact that Pitt doesn’t consider writing. His writing portion on SATs was literally a 460 the first time he took it. Only managed to raise it to a 510. ACT wasn’t much better.

I’m just so relieved he is okay with the whole thing! So your son is thinking about Vermont. Wow, that school looks awesome! If I was 18 now I would want to go there.

So it seems like a TON of early applicants haven’t heard back yet? Being that CC tends to attract the better and brighter…(and I do believe they they initially do some cherry picking…after the computer glitch that is) so, there have got to be Thousands if not tens of thousands who haven’t heard. Seeing the 31st is a week away, do you suppose the kids waiting will still have to go through the “coming days” thing, web decision, then letter (although S’s letter came pretty much same time if I remember) ORRRRRR will they just blanket post all the letters this Thursday or Friday? What happened last year I wonder?

motherto5, I am glad to hear your S is feeling OK. It’s been a few years, but I still remember the pain involved in the whole process. (And I truly believe that a mother is only as happy as her least happy child.) Good luck to him!

Well it’s not like Penn State is the only problem. NYU-Poly also has a problem promising those who received the “Deans” application a response in just two weeks.

my gpa is on a 4.0 scale! and it was a 3.45 but my unweighted did not get sent to PSU so they did not even see it lol

imanicollegehelp: good question. I was thinking the same thing. If the status doesn’t turn tomorrow…then what? If it turns on Wednesday, will we hear by Friday? Errr…so aggravating.

coming days! ahhhhhhhhhhhh pray for me people!

1dwn2togo - I’m really surprised your d didn’t get in. Those are pretty good stats. Did she also apply summer? Also, was that the weighted GPA? I’m sure she’s getting into some good schools with those stats though.

Lion lover, couldn’t keep the smile off my face when I saw you got coming days…we know you’ve been waiting for this…wishing you the best!

Winnie, it took me 8 weeks to hear back from them.

hey guys. I am in the same boat as all of you. I’ve been reading these posts and hoping for the best. I got the “COMING DAYS” status friday night (1/21) so when do you think I should hear by? I hope tomorrow… and if so, would it come through the mail or mypennstate account first? thanks and good luck to everyone.

lionlover - do you know when your status changed?

still no status change… ):

same here… its been a rollercoaster, sometimes I see gpa’s higher than me and I get depressed, then gpa’s lower than me gettin in. I hope all this waiting will be worth it.

PA- it change sometime during the middle of the day. I checked first at 6 am and nothing, then at 815 am, nothing, then again at 730 pm and it changed today!

And thanks so much kbiresearch- I can’t wait to finally stop annoying everyone haha

I don’t know if it’s the same for everyone but my status changed to “coming days” on Thursday between 1 and 4pm and I got my acceptance at midnight Sunday/Monday. My friend had told me her status changed at midnight so I looked at around 11:55pm and there was no change, then again at 12:03am and it had changed! Good luck to everyone!
