How much money can a college student earn?

I'll be paying my way through college. I am going to college in Nevada so I want to live in dorms.

1.I am Asian, have around a 2.8 GPA.
2.Family of 4 have about 30k in income(don't ask) Can I still get need based aid with my GPA?
3. I want to go to Reno and live in a dorm because I don't have that much friends in highschool(no real social life) and I heard its hard to make friends if you don't live in a dorm

Need based aid is purely need based, so you can still get grants and loans, provided that you maintain at least a 2.0(?) in the year that you’re receiving aid.
And to your question “How much money can a college student earn?”, I earned about 3k last yr(two semesters).
and yeah, its hard to make friends if u dont live in a dorm.

How can you be asian and have a 2.8 GPA? Can you say family fail?

I’m surprised by square’s answer. Not all colleges provide the full need-based aid that you would require–especially once you leave the elite colleges that very few people can get into.

I think you should ask your question on the parent’s forum; many of them have lots of info about financing college and the types of aid they sought out for the more typical college applicant like you.

I’m not asking if I’ll get full need based, but will I at least get some?

bump this thread

Yea as long as your efc is low, you should get something

UNR averages about 5000 dollars in financial aid. Will my share be lower due to GPA or will it be average due to low income?

Were you already admitted to UNR and have they not sent you financial aid info yet for your admission? I’d call their financial aid office and ask them. Pretty sure they do admissions on a rolling basis like UNLR so they shouldn’t be too busy right now.
