How much money should I prepare in my account after CSS profile?

After submitting the CSS profile, the university requires bank statement but I am not sure how much should I deposit in my bank account.

Someone recommeded me that the amount should cover the annual tuition and expenses but I am wondering whether I still need to prepare that big amount or not as I applied for CSS profile due to my financial condition. If I put big amount, will that affect negatively on my financial aid? Please advisa. Many thanks in advance.

The money that you would put in your bank account must be included in what you reported on the CSS regardless of where it is now. Otherwise you are committing fraud.

I’m confused. Wouldn’t you just submit your bank statement as they are now? It’s what you put in CSS right?

Christyhg, are you an international applicant?

All the money, whether it is in your account or not, must be reported. If you have $10k in the bank but $10k in the sock drawer, you must report $20k.

Are you asking how much you should report of your bank account on the CSS? You must report it all. It’s not optional.

When you filled out the CSS PROFILE you Listed assets that day. The college wants to see proof that the numbers you put down are the truth. How much was in your bank account that day? That’s what you report.

Where would you get the money to put into your bank account? If you have the money to pay for college, why are filing for financial aid.

I hope you filled out your aid form honestly.

Are you asking about the certification of finances that internationals have to report?

Some colleges do as for the Certification of Finances from International students even before financial aid with acceptance are offered. I’ve not personally known of any, but I have heard that some do.

Make sure that this college requires this Certification of Finances completed even through you have completed CSS PROFILE and need financial aid to meet the Cost of attendance

Fill in your current account balances and get verified copies of parental and your assets. Fill in any other sources of payment of your college such as government grants, loan sources , income. You will have a gap and that gap is hopefully what the college will give you so that you can attend.

It looks to me that the college is asking you how much of the cost you can pay and how much they will have to give you for you to be able to attend that college. My guess is that It does not want to give you an offer of aid that is more than you can scrape up.

If you show you can pay for all of the cost, then you don’t need financial aid.

@Christyhg

Are you an international student?

You are talking about putting money into your account after completing the Profile.

My question is…where was that money when you completed the Profile? Or where is this extra money going to come from as you make it sound like you plan to deposit a lot into your account.
