Hi im entering senior year and i'm finalizing my college list. I'm trying to compile a list without any super reaches. I don't want to apply to Notre Dame if I have a very slim chance.

So what are my chances of getting into notre dame?
Thanks

Well i definitely think it’s worth it to apply - it would probably be a high match/low reach for you. Your GPA/rank are great, you have a challenging schedule, and your test scores are definitely in ND’s range. You have decent committment/achievement/leadership in your clubs and activities but that can always be improved. Here’s the deal - you have an overall great record and a good chance at ND. BUT - if you want to be more sure, try for a little more leadership in your activities, make an effort to get to know your new guidance counselor, and work on your essay writing skills. And keep those grades and test scores up. Good luck!

I would say you have a good shot RD. The ACT is sort of on the low end but your SAT 2s are good. The rigor of your schedule looks good. ECs are good but as Reachhigher said, leadership is key. Make sure you submit a solid essay and see if you can’t get some quality recs.

Looked good but I don’t think offseason training is a rec… Every sport trains in the offseason and people go to the gym all the time. I work out for football 14 hours per week offseason, it’s just part of the sport

You are definitely in. You are in the range and it helps a lot that you are a minority. There are not very many Indians in the campus, you are highly desirable to them. When I say a minority, I mean a minority at Notre Dame, not in general.

^If I state somewhere in my app, that notre dame is one of my top choices, pending financial aid, will this increase my chances too?

there’s a part in the app that asks you why you want to go to Notre Dame. Think about it carefully and write why you really want to come here, I think that’s better than saying Notre Dame is one of your top choices. 1. They see a lot of that, 2. For a lot of kids Notre Dame is their number one choice.

What is your intended major? ND is single-door, but your academic plans (and how you’ve worked towards accomplishing them in HS) can still make a difference in pushing your acceptance one way or another.

8 AP’s is great, and your service will only help you. It seems you are a little lacking in “leadership”; perhaps you could talk about how you are a leader/example for your track team. You have a great shot but I think your essays and your rec’s will be the make-or-break for you, so good luck!

(I completely agree with yarayara: don’t explicitly say that ND is your top choice, and definitely do not say it is “one of” your top choices. Show, not tell, that it is your top choice through your essays.)

Yah, one of my supplement essays is going to be the one about why I want to go to notre dame. My recs will probably we average. I plan on majoring in business. My school doesn’t have any business EC’s (i.e. FBLA, Deca). What about my SAT II math score? I was thinking about retaking it in november and getting a 750+(I know I will, i dozed off the 1st time I took it for like 10 min.) rather than just staying put with 710. Is it worth it?
