will Wharton have over a regular state school? The starting salaries for the school are $10,000 apart, but that $10,000 more will be in a city like NYC. How much does Wharton REALLY help?

While it is the person (not the school) who ultimately decides how far he or she will go in his/her carrer, starting at Wharton would give you a huge advantage if you want to get into finance/management consulting (although you can still break into these industries from other schools). If you want to be in public accounting/tech consulting the difference would be minimal and probably not worth the extra cost in tuition.

^^Agree if you stay in the NE with a concentration in finance etc. the boost of Wharton for an undergrad degree will give you an edge in starting salary. For other functional areas in busines/industry/etc. or in other regions of the country the difference will not be as strong. The National Assn. of Colleges and Employers data shows about a $10,000 per year difference in lowest to highest starting salaries for undergrad business majors duirng last year’s survey period. Factors in the difference were regional and concentration (accounting/finance yielded a slightly higher starting salary.)

Bump. Want more opinions.

huge advantage. i was going to show you a visual example of the margin of difference with brackets but i ran out of room.
