How much of an impact do the AMC/AIME/USAMO have on applications?

<p>On the AMC 12B this year, I got a 145.5/150, which ended up being #1 out of the 31000 or so who took this exam.</p>

<p>I am taking the AIME II and hope to do well to qualify for the USAMO.</p>

<p>I was wondering if high achieving results on these tests do a lot for college admissions.</p>

<p>My overall numbers (GPA and SAT/ACT) aren't great and wanted to know if my scores on these competitions will boost me to a point where I can get into one of the upper tier schools. </p>

<p>I definitely think that doing well on these sorts of tests can be really good to put on applcations. Like, especially qualifying for USAMO or making it further. I would even say qualifying for the AIME would be good to put on an application, too. However, if you were just thinking about putting scores on the application, I would advise away from that. I would say that it would be equivalent to USABO or USNChO.</p>
