How much sleep do you get?

My d will be starting at Andover this year.I'm wondering, with the number of courses BS students take, plus ec's and athletics: how much sleep do you get? Is it enough? and how many hours, on average, of homework do you do a day?

Those are very broad questions since they depend heavily on the individual, classes, and teachers. I usually get between 6 and 7 hours of sleep a night. I'd say that's pretty average for most students. I would like to sleep more, but that's what the weekends are for. I have about 3-4 hours of homework a day if I have most my classes.

How much sleep do we get? Not enough! I usually get around 6 hours mon-sat, and then 12 on sundays.

I do around 4 hours of homework on a typical day. Obviously it varies on factors like sugerkim listed above.

When my older son was at NMH, he used to get around 6 hours/night. Not enough. He was sick a lot. He played sports, was involved in other ec's, and had 3-4 hours of hw per night. He often would stay up past late lights.
If you visit a bs on a Sunday, you will notice it is eerily empty and silent....everyone is asleep!

My D would get about 6 and sleep late Sat and Sun. 3-4 hrs homework per night. And when she got sick, she was SICK! It goes right through the dorms and campus. The headmaster called off school one day because so many were sick. Make sure you get the meningitis shots before you go. Your school will prob offer flu shots so get those too. And no kissing. It spreads too many germs. :)

I'm an Andover '07, and I think its fair to say I was taking a very challenging course load. I almost always got at least six hours of sleep a night, frequently more. Keep in mind I was a day student who had to commute, so I lost about an hour a day in the car/waiting for a ride. Also, I wasn't the best manager of time, and I feel I could have easily gotten 8 or 9 a night if I tried.

Another question is how much sleep do you need. Teens need 8 - 10 hours per night, but rarely get it. Prep schoolers have a tough time scheduling homework, sports, other ecs, eating, and sleeping. There really isn't enough time to sleep until the weekend.
