How much sleep?

How much sleep should the average person get for each grade level? I'm currently a freshman and I find that I oversleep if I go to bed too early (like before 12:00). I don't get up for school until around 9:30.... should I get up earlier and go to bed earlier? Or should I stay up later and get up earlier?

I'd really like to get up earlier.... but I always sleep through my alarm clock... and I don't know how long I should sleep.

Thanks.

You should be sleeping around 10 PM and waking up at.. 7 am should put you in a good and refreshing mood by the time you go to school.

Probably so... as my school doesn't start until 10:30...

So if I could get up at 7 I could eat breakfast... then I could work on homework of whatever... then I could make it to the library when it opens at 9 and walk to school at about 10:15....

the only problem... how do I make sure I don't sleep through my alarm clock?

This is what my friend does:
He has three separate alarm clocks that he places in different locations around his room that are farthest from the bed. For example, he'll place one alarm on his shelf. By doing this, if he wants to be able to sleep peacefully, he has to get out of bed to turn it off. By then, he's basically awake.
Hope this helped.

An early start always makes your day better.

I have one alarm clock that you can set for two different times... the only but sometimes I will sleep through them... and it will be 10:00... when I wake up when the alarms have been going off for two hours... But I do need to move it further away...

Should I get something like the sonic bomb alarm clock from ThinkGeek? lol

Im a junior, i currently get about 8

Why does your school start at 10:30?

In order to remain autonomous from the adjacent school... and the fact that everyone takes college classes so it makes sense to follow the college's schedule.

I'm a freshman and if there's nothing on TV and I don't have much homework I go to bed around 10 and wake up at 6. On most days I go to bed at 11 and wake up at 6, and when I have a ton of homework it's around 12 - 6. So I get anywhere from 6-8 hours of sleep per night on school nights.

everyone should aim for getting at least 8 hours of sleep.

I go to bed at 11:30, wake up at 7:20...yay. But, really, as a freshman and sophomore you should EASILY be getting at the LEAST 9 hours.

You guys have to eassssssssyyyyyy....

I (hopefully) start sleeping at 10 and wake up at 5.

so 7 hours of sleep if that.

Usually go to sleep at 1:30 and wake up at 6. so 4.5 hours.

I think 7 is perfect. I usually get closer to 5.5-6, though.

5.5-7, usually.

But that's not because of TV or even HW, usually. It's because I live 2 hours away from school and, hence, need to get up at 5:30 and only get home after 6.

School, for me, starts at 7:20 and I have to be at the bus stop by 6:55, which means I wake up at around 6, earlier if I have to get to school early for a Radio Show. I get home at around 6 from sports so I go to bed at like 10:30-11, so roughly 7-7.5 hrs.

Around 6.5-7 hours. I'm tired though.

7-8 hours it's what recommended. That is if you're on a empty stomach. If you don't eat for about 3 hours before going to bed 7-8 hours is the minimum recommended.

I aim for 6, get 5 fairly often.
Depends on if you mind simply sleeping through a good half of your classes.

You should aim for 8. I'm usually an 11-7 person, sometimes 12-7.
