is reasonable to have each night after being up for like 16 hours?

8 hours, hopefully...

Different people need different amounts of sleep. Regularly they recommend that you do get 8 hours, but I've known people that do just fine with 4 or 5.

is like 7 hours okay? hah because that's what i'm going to have to be doing.

You'll probably be fine. :)

As much as you can get...?

12 hours is my preference..

I WISH I could sleep ten hours a day, but I've been doing about seven (11:30 - 6) for two years now. I'm a little drowsy in the morning, certainly, but I drink coffee when I wake up so I can be conscious during my morning classes.

Before I drank coffee, I drank iced tea, which does have a little caffeine in it - just enough to wake me up.

I think you'll be fine, janemac.

I have to get at least a minumum of 8 hours of sleep. Anything above that I feel great, anything below that I feel like crap.

I usually go from 10:20-6:20

yeah... a lot of smart kids i know got 4-5, id rather be a healthy kid and get 7 and if i dont get into the college i want to atleast i slept well...

if i deprived my self of sleep and still didnt get it, that would just plain suck

I get seven.

I like to get 8 or 9 hours of sleep. If I get less, sometimes I like to take a 20 minute nap in the afternoon.

It doesn't matter to my body how many hours I get, it's what time I wake up.
I can get 12 hours of sleep, wake up at 6:30, and just be physically exhausted.
Or I can get 4/6/whatever hours of sleep, wake up at 6:30, and be as tired no matter how many hours I had gotten...
I am not a morning person.

if you have to be up for 16 hours, then you only have 8 hours to sleep before you have to get up again. I think 9 hours of sleep is best.

what would you do if you detest coffee (and soda and juice)? and tea does nothing for you? (i think i'm immune to it, having drank it since birth).

I get 5 :-((((( 1:30 - 6:30......

^ (port) I would take a look at the "how do you stay energized" thread

To add on to my last post, if I only got 4 hours of sleep but woke up at 10, I wouldn't be tired at all...

um i normally get around three and i am fine

3ish to 6

I got fiveish on weeknights last year and felt marginally okay.

just get going. I don't drink coffee or anything with caffeine in it and I get by on 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night just fine. Taking a shower in the morning helps though.
