How much to Colleges value improvement?

I wont go into extreme detail, but to say the least:

Freshman GPA: 3 flat W, UW No Honors

Soph GPA: About the same, like a 3.4 W Though b/c of 3 honors classes.. ( all Bs again)

Junior GPA: UW 3.8-3.9, W: 4.62 (One B, all AP/HNS except for 1 class)

I have pretty good ECs so I'm not worried about that, but just wondering, how much would colleges appreciate a scenario like this?

It would depend on the college

It’s important.

This is always just an odd question. I mean, improvement is better than doing average for 4 years, and worse than doing well for 4 years.

So yes, colleges would appreciate you improving, but they would appreciate it more had you done well all 4 years.

An upward trend is better than a downward trend.
An upward trend from below-average to above-average grades is probably better than average grades.
An upward trend is not nearly as good as steady good grades, though.

Some colleges focus on the whole, while some pay less attention to earlier. You need to show them that you’re now just as good as the kid who got those grades all along, it just took you a bit to mature and step up to the plate academically. If they think your new grades are your new standard, and that you’ll be doing that well from now on, you’ll do much better.

Thanks for the input. I also have a 34 ACT to give some more perspective.
