How much to save for law school?

Fingers crossed, I should be coming out of undergraduate school with no debt, and for that I am very appreciative. I am now focused on saving up for law school. For those who currently have experience, what is a good number to save before attending? I understand I will have to take out considerable loans but was wondering how much money people have saved before hand too. Of course the obvious answer is "full-tuition" but my only jobs right now are a waitressing job and a paid internship so that will not be possible, haha.

The amount you need is irrelevant to your decision. In any case you should save as much as you can. The more you can defray the cost of law school, the better. A good way to do that is by gaining points on your LSAT, if you haven’t taken it yet (or really, even if you have).

For a law school nest egg, aim for $10k. That will enable you to pay moving costs, security deposits and upfront rent, books, and miscellaneous things that come up - travel to job fairs, summer room and board if you get a job in a different city than your law school, car repairs, a suit for interviewing, etc.

Remember that you’re paying all of your living costs and it often takes a month to disburse loan money.
