I've been trying to put my mind on studying for the SAT. My best practice PSAT score is a 195. Im hoping I scored a 200+ on the actual test, even though I'm a sophomore and it doesn't count.

I'd really like to start studying. I've gotten myself to quit video games, because that always distracts me. I tried studying today and when I opened my SAT study book, I ended up just going to bed, waking up, watching monday night football, and now I'm just going to bed for school tomorrow.

How much did you guys study a day? How do you get yourselves to study? Im trying to keep my GPA up, and I know that that HW will take around 2 hours usually, maybe 3. That leaves me about 4 hours to study but i just can't get myself to. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, has anyone attended a Korean SAT camp? I'm korean, and I'm thinking about flying there to take a camp where you go everyday and memorize like a 100 words and take a bunch of practice tests. It is hard, but my cousin claims she went from a 170 sophomore PSAT to 2350 SATs all thanks to this.

Ok no the average person does not study 3 hours daily for 4 months. That’s ridiculous.

My personal belief is that is just one test and a person shouldn’t decide ate so much time to it when they could be productive on other ways. I know that isn’t what you wanted to hear though.

I personally took a class on and off. It was once a week for 2 hours then we would have about 3 hours of homework. However this class only improved my score by like 150 points. Then I gave up and tried the ACT with virtually no studying and did fine. Then I retook that with no studying and did even better (the converted SAT score was about 200 points better than what I got on my SAT).

If you would like to compare yourself to me my sophomore psat was 166 and my final ACT was 33.

The classes don’t really teach you anything that you can’t learn through books and research. The only benefit is that classes force you to study.

But trust me from personal experience, don’t over study. It is definitely not worth the time. You college and future do not depend on your SAT score by any means.

Good luck with studying! Maybe self-motivation to study and improve your score might be more beneficial than going to a korean SAT camp that will force you to achieve a satisfying score.

You attend one of these notorious Korean SAT “boot camps” and you’ll end up on a blacklist, barred from taking the test in any region even remotely close to Asia or America.

Nothing beats the rewards of genuine hard effort and self-studying. Get off of LoL or WoW and hit the books!
