How much tution will I have to pay?

Hi guys. So I received my financial aid package today from George Mason .It says that i gotta pay 53,000 dollars per year. I got a scholarship totaling 19,620 dollars that lowers it down to 33,454$. And also this college qualified me as an outstate resident. Ive been living in Virginia for the past 2 years now and idk y they qualified me as an out of state resident. Maybe it’s because my dad pays his taxes in New York? btw so yeh for the expenses it says that i gotta pay 12,028$ for off campus room and board whereas I already live with my mum in our leased apartment. So can I actually deduct this cost from my tuition bringing it down to like 21,000$?

-Thanks

Contact the school’s financial aid office directly.

Instate tuition policy varies from school to school. You should contact the registrar office to see if you are eligible to instate tuition. Simply living there for two years may or may not qualify you for that purpose.

Call the school ASAP. I’ve been living in VA my whole life, and when I applied to GMU, they had me listed as an out of state student too.

If your parent is not paying Virginia taxes, have a VA driver license, or votes in VA, then you are not a VA resident.

is your mother your custodial parent (for fafsa purpose: parent you spend the most time with)? Does she pay taxes in Virginia? Is she registered to vote in Virginia? Sis you send a copy of her VA taxes as well as HS graduation proof and driver’s license? Sis you apply as a commuter student ?
If not, how would they know you live with her in VA?
