How much will ED increase my chances?

Hello

My grades aren’t exactly at the top end of the scale for my reach colleges, so I wanted to apply ED to increase my chances. However I have a few dilemmas:

  1. I have been hearing that ED acceptance rates are inflated and doesn't really improve your chances much. Apparently the figures are due to the legacies and athletes. How credible is this?
  2. I am taking my subject tests for the first time in nov, and I have no idea whether they will arrive in time for my colleges.
  3. I'm an international student so perhaps the ED acceptance rates don't even apply to me?
  4. I am stuck between to colleges: Cornell and JHU. I love both equally, but since I am an international student I can't visit to see the campuses in person so it's virtually impossible to make a decision atm. Finance is not a concern

What do you think? Would it be worth applying ED to either colleges?

I’d appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

I don’t have a definitive answer for you – but consider this:

  1. you’re still wavering btn JHU and Cornell – indication that you shouldn’t do ED
  2. students often wait on ED and apply RD in anticipation of using their first semester senior year grades to boost cumulative GPA (and maybe retake a SAT or ACT) and overall academic strength.

These are two reasons to consider waiting and applying RD vs. the small possible boost you might get applying ED. Good luck to you

hi, cheers for your respnse, that is indeed sth i should consider!!
