For example, if I go to UChicago, http://collegeaid.uchicago.edu/cost.shtml , will I be paying $45,825 + $13,601 (assuming I take 5 courses) = 59,426 ? ) Or is the course fee included in the original fee? Same question goes for other schools which breakdown their expenses like this :
Tuition and Fees $30,716
Housing 5,336
Meals 3,582
Books and Supplies 830
Personal Expenses 1,636
TOTAL $42,100
(Thats UPenn).

At UChicago you would pay "only" 45,825. Note this is an estimation for planning purposes.

The site you are looking at is not crystal clear. But if you look at the estimated tuition in the top table (31,629), divide by 3, you get 10,543 which just happens to be the figure listed in the bottom table for 3 or 4 courses in a quarter. I believe that for estimation purposes, they assume students will take 3 quarters a year of 3 or 4 courses each.

As an aside, note this is different than most universities. Most others have a flat rate tuition for a full time student, and separate per course charges for part time students taking one, two or three courses.
