how much will low SAT subject test hurt me?

I'm overall a mediocre candidate for georgetown. My GPA is 3.75 unweighted, 3.92 weighted (top 5% of class). I have a 33 ACT, but a 2080 SAT. My essays, recs, interview, and EC's are decent to good (i'm too lazy too list).

I dunno what my SAT subject tests are (dec 20 results),but I know I did pretty lousy. I took Math II, Spanish, and U.S. History. As in, for Math 2, I skipped 15 out of 50 questions cuz I got stuck on a few problems and ran out of time. Spanish I had no idea what I was doing; the first part was okay, but when it came to the reading passages, I just completely made it up. U.S. History I didn't omit anything, but made "educated" guesses on 20-30 at least.

So, if I get like 500s or low 600s on all my SAT subject tests, will it be a serious detriment to my acceptance? Does anyone know if they weight SAT subject tests a lot or a little in comparison to grades/regular SATs or ACTs? And why, why, why, would they be one of the only institutions that requires 3? Yuck. Thanks in advance

My regional admissions officer specifically told me that they use SAT scores as a sort of "last resort". If your other stats are not superb enough to get you accepted by themselves then they will turn to your scores. Because you mentioned you are a "mediocre" candidate, then there is a chance your scores may be more heavily looked upon than if you had other amazing qualities. Your ACT is awesome so I wouldn't worry about your SAT I. The SAT II is what is concerning you, I'm assuming. Maybe you can taken them again. Anyway, I hope that helped. Good luck!

my regional admissions officer told me that ur SAt scores and GPa basically just show that you can learn and compete at a similar testing level as other gtown kids and that after scores and numbers...they look at the essay and ur recs etc... to see what type of person you are

Have you taken any AP tests? What were your scores?

yes: 4 Ap tests. 4 in Macro, 5 in Micro (econ), 4 in english lang, 5 in psychology

gooo..my sat II scores weren't that great
760 in Latin and U.S. History
730 in Math 2
but...

690 in Bio E and only 650 in Spanish

my SAT I scores are ok...2270

will the low SAT II's matter much, or will they look at the higher ones??

haha...your scores are great! don't complain about them. as for sat 2s, you have to remember you're scaled against people as smart as you, not the general public (as in the sat), so your percentiles won't be as high. they'll definitely look at the higher ones, and i'm sure they'll be happy you did decently on a language test!

yeah..my LAtin teacher actually went to Gtown...and wrote my rec...think that will help???

Did they expect you to send AP scores? The only scores I sent were my ACT scores since I'm from Kansas and thats the big thing around the midwest.

He he... just an update on my scores. As expected, 500-somethings on all of my subject tests. Embarrassing... anyway, I'm practically indifferent to whether I get in or not now. Rejection is 99% likely, unless they really like my essays. Good luck to the rest of you! Hope you fare better on the subject tests!

yea...
in the same boat...only worse
cuz i took SATII in latin thinking it would be all good considering im in ap latin
...but i also have lik no latin vocab
so when i took it...i failed...literally....490!!!
lol
i got 770 on us and world
and
have 29ACT(bottom part of pool)
but i bet my ECs probably own u all
im gonna get my latin teacher to send them a letter to say im not bad at latin
(oh and i applied EA and got deferred)

haha same situation as eveeryone. i have a 34 act but low 600s on all subject tests and a 2, 3, and 4 on AP tests. i hope that doesnt hurt me too much...i mean i have good other stats

It depends on your other stuff. My M/CR score was 1310 but my ACT was 32 and I got in. My Math I SAT was 650 too, but my other stuff demonstrated that math was not my strong point. Also, you probably did not do as badly on the subject tests as you think you did, because I came out of them thinking I did terribly and I got a 740 on world history.

You have to remember that everything is important and one great essay or one great activity could send you over the edge. Just be patient and wait to find out; don't count yourself out or freak out just yet. I know that's hard not to do because I did the same thing, but seriously it all comes down to luck and whether you impressed someone. Your scores are not that important unless you got a 300 in some subject, which I seriously doubt any of you did.
