How much will these old grades count????

Quick Question,

I applied to the University of Pittsburgh as a transfer student, and everything was going went well, until they asked for an old transcript. I was not even at this school for a few months, and had to leave after thanksgiving for family problems (father was sick). I did not finish up the classes, and I now looked at my transcript and Incomplete grades turned into F's. I did put it on my application, and they still began to look at my folder

Now I ended up going to Drexel for 1 year (40 credits) and have a 3.0 at that University. I went to Community College and have a 3.7 there, with 35 credits and 17 in the works now. This is basically what they are looking for in a transfer application, and I have strong recommendations, a reason to go to this school over all others. This is basically the 2 years, and most of there gen ed's will be finished by the end of this semester

They requested this transcript, so how much would it count do you think? I am going to contact the registar at that school and try to put in W's instead of Incompletes, but that is certainly not guranteed.

Damn, so close, yet so far.

If you once had Ws and they became Fs, that is a big problem and you should take it up to the dean of that school.

Well I had Incompletes, but never finished the course because I left, so supposidly they turned them into F's after 1 year.

I dont even have the energy or resources to go back there and meet with the dean (very hard to get in touch with), that school is 6+ hours away from me now. Plus i have a busy schedule.

If they cant fix it, will it even matter that much?

It probably won't matter if you can somehow prove to your next school that you didn't actually fail those classes.

Well, they only switched one class to a W. the rest are the same. They told me a can make an appointment with the Dean, but I dont have the time nor energy. Should I submit this transcript to Pitt? My other 2 transcripts meet and exceed their standards for admission, but dont know about this.

.... seems like you really don't have the motivation to get into this school.

umm...

I am taking 20 credits right now, and dont have the time to drive 6+ hours to meet with the dean. that would take 2 days, and I have class pretty much all day M-F, and during the weekend I study, go out, and work. There is no time until thanksgiving, but that is too late for the spring.

so im going to get the transcript and send it.

I mean, should I be worried anyway?

I have 1 Full Year of College at Drexel University with a 3.1 now completed, and 1 and a half year of credits at a community college with a 3.7. At the end of this semester, I will have 2 years of college at Community College under my belt.

If you still have proof of your dad having been ill, then please do what you gotta do to have those "W" marks down on that transcript.

E mail, e mail, e mail everyone you can think of. Send certified letters to the dean where you make veiled reference to having legal council or something.

And, yeah, maybe go there also.

Seriously. I would walk a lake of fire if I had a screwy transcript which was beyond my flipping control. No offense. Once again, I truly do mean no offense towards you.

It's understandable you can't just pick up and drive 6 hours. Call Pitt and explain to them why it wil show F's, admissions counselors are usually pretty understanding, and will note your file.

of course, im completely ****ed off right now.

Im going to have to send them a transcript as is though, this can take some time to get ironed out. I dont have the time for this, all my other grades and transcripts are competitive, by the time this semester is over I will have 2 years of Community College credits with a 3.7 GPA, and I am only 20. This doesnt even include 1 year of wortheless credits at Drexel.

I dont think this will weight heavily on the decision, thank god. I will call both parties tomorrow, and fax a letter telling them to put all my grades as W's (since they know I did not return).

WELL Now I have a 1.2 GPA, better then a .1 or something hahah LMAO. the rest cant be fixed, I even spoke with the dean, and most of the "documentation" is missing.

thats the transcript that is going to Pitt, I cant hold this up any longer. Spoke with the admission director today and she didnt think it should count towards that much since it is so old and I have 2 + years from other locations.

I will continue to fix this transcript though, and when time permits I will go to NH to yell and scream LMAO.

well they received the transcript, i sent them a letter of explanation and whatnot. hopefully this will go smoothly, since my other GPA's are competitive.
