How much work per night is AP Bio, AP chem, and APUSH?

Considering taking all 3 next year. Only one that I'd change is AP Bio to senior year, rather than junior

It completely depends on the teacher, the school, your abilities, etc. Chances are it will be a lot and time consuming.

^^ agreed.

At my school the order of difficulty goes AP Chem, APUSH, AP Bio.

So it’s manageable? Considering I don’t have to study a lot. Mostly cram 20 minutes before an AP test in the morning.

For most schools, yes it’s manageable. Are classes at your school generally hard or easy?

I have no homework for AP Bio. Ever. Which kind of sucks.

I took AP Bio, APUSH, and AP Physics B the same year. I know it isn’t Chem, but still an added science I guess. It wasn’t too bad with time management and understanding what material I actually needed to study.

Chem and Bio aren’t smart to take in the same year. Plus USH and Bio will take up a LOT of time with memorization. But yeah, I’d advise against the combo of those 3.

I know someone who took AP Chem, AP Bio, and AP Physics together. AP Chem and AP Bio is doable. In fact, a lot of people do it in my school.

I advice you take either bio or chem and then tack on apush to not stress you out midyear

Yeah apush alone is worse than ap chem and ap bio combined, ap bio being the more time consuming of the two

I know from experience that AP Bio is a lot of reading and you need to have good writing skills to write essays and short answers on tests. AP Chem isn’t too difficult. APUSH is killer at my school :p.

It really varies by school. I am in APUSH right now and it often produces more work then all my other classes combined (one other AP, two honors classes and a class taken outside of school for credit) due to it taking so long to do the readings/outline them. That being said I have friends at other schools where it is not this bad. Talk to some of this years seniors at your school (assuming the same teachers are still teaching those APs) and ask them how manageable the work load was. Also there is no way you will ever pass an APUSH test if you cram for 20 minutes.

From the general consensus, it appears that the class is less intensive on homework. However, it’s intensive on time to prepare for tests. Thank you for the opinions.

APUSH in my school requires tons of projects and essays plus lots of parts of the AP exam given as tests Which make some kids cry when they fail horribly…
I thought APUSH was ok though as long as you studied and kept up the pace, don’t fall behind

I’m taking AP Biology and AP Chemistry and I get about a hour a night with homework.

It really depends on how much you do. I know people who are in four or five AP classes and just blow off all of their homework that isn’t checked.

I actually haven’t taken any of these specific AP classes (though I’ve taken 7 other ones), but this is what I’ve gathered from people who have:
-APUSH: ~1 hr/night
-AP Chem: ~20 mins/night (honors Chem had 4x that much)
-AP Bio: ~2 hrs/night

Personally, I haven’t had much homework at all for AP Bio this year. Except for studying, some of the tests are killer -__-

Workload in each class is dependent on the teacher and the school. Moreover, as a warning, you should take classes that interest you and that you wish to learn more about instead of ones that are easy to do or to boost your grade. If these classes interest you, then, by all means, go for it.

APUSH and AP Bio take up most of my time this year. I’m always studying, doing projects, or doing notecards for APUSH. AP Bio is just a LOT of reading.
