how much would you weigh the clubs?

As a future applicant to Cornell, I have a question for the Cornellians if you wouldn't mind :)

Since I'm not good at sports, I haven't done any varsity sports in my HS career.

I still tried to do winter track for 2 years, and intramural sports, but I don't think they are as significant as the varsity sports.

However, I did manage to get the leadership positions in a few clubs.

I'm going to be a vice president in a few clubs in my senior year.

How much weight does a club leadership position have?

My guidance counselor told me that it is actually better than a varsity sport, but I have doubts.

Would you guys give me some of your opinions?

well i got in without any leadership positions or sports…so i guess its not THAT important

I think it depends on the club. If you are say, applying for the Vet school, and your clubs all have something to do with animals or the humane society or something, then it could definitely help, since Cornell is all about “fit.”

It really depends on how much you actually do for the club. There are plenty of officer positions that don’t involve that much work. On the other hand, I imagine it would be very helpful if you could show that you’ve contributed a lot to your organization and have the qualities of a leader.

I did not do any sports in high school, but held a few officer positions in areas that were very well-aligned with my interests. So if you can demonstrate genuine interest in your clubs, I think that club leadership positions could help out a bit.
