if bright futures is paying for 75% of my college education and i get the pell grant, about how much will i haveto pay for college?

I doubt that Bright Futures is paying for 75% of your college education. This year tuition and fees are about $175 per credit hour, and Bright Futures Florida Medallion Scholars pays only $76 per credit hour. The Pell grant is up to $5500 (depending on your EFC).

There’s no such thing as the 100% and 75% Bright Futures anymore. There’s $101/credit hour and $76/credit hour Bright Futures.

Tuition alone runs $177/credit hour give or take (not counting fees. A 3 credit hour class runs $531.84 before any additional fees). So in reality, your Bright Futures scholarship will pay only around 44% of your tuition, and since it all adds up to something like $188/credit hour, you are looking at Bright Futures paying around 40% of your tuition/fees costs alone.

FSU lists a Cost of Attendance of $20,060 this year, based off their estimates. I think last year the amount was about $1000 less, and I had figured my CoA was around $14,500 or something (not including personal expenses, etc). I’d also be willing to bet that the CoA goes up next year- and $21k total wouldn’t surprise me.

Based off just the information you have provided and FSU’s estimates:
$20,060 to attend
- $5500 Pell Grant
= $14560 left - $2280 (Bright Futures scholarship, $76/credit hour, assuming 15 credits/semester)
= $12280 short on funding.

Depends on the number of credits your talking, other financial aid, housing, etc. There is about a 200$ university facility fee.

thanks forthe responses. does anyone have experiences in the CARE Program at FSU?
