yeh..how necessary are SAT 2's ??

Here's info about how USC views testing, starting at the top with SAT2s. Our counselor strongly encouraged the students interested in USC to take the SAT2s & I believe it can really help, especially if your scores are high & consistent with everything else you present in your ap.

Whoops--click this link & then type testing as the word to search & you'll pull up the page I referenced above. I've copied & pasted the Q&A specifically dealing with subject exams.

"Q: Are SAT Subject exams required?
"A: SAT Subject Tests are optional for most students (see below) but strongly recommended. These exams can be very helpful in evaluating scholarship applicants.

"If you attend a high school not recognized by one of the regional accrediting associations or if you are home-schooled, you are required to take three SAT Subject Tests, (including one of the math exams), in addition to the ACT."

I really believe my daughter's high SAT 2 scores helped "complete her package" and ensured her admission. Unless you're going to do poorly (not likely if you're USC caliber, right?) I'd definitely take them -- it's one more opportunity to show the school what you can do.

I second PBK Mom. Also, many other colleges require two SAT II scores, if not three, so you might as well take them to help out with your other apps as well.

Agree that SATII scores that are consistent with (or above) your other credentials can be a nice plus for your college apps. I know they were very helpful for my son's apps, as they show his abilities better than his grades for reasons he explained in his apps.
