All the other threads I read confused me as they all say different things. I’m going from a straight a student to possibly getting a few c’s and b’s in my spring term of senior year. My question is, how much of a drop in academic performance do colleges start to think that they should revoke an admission? Am I in danger of this?
Check your college’s admission letter to see what its conditions are. Sometimes, it is specific in terms of what GPA you must maintain, in addition to the usual of not changing your previously reported in-progress schedule and not getting any D or F grades. But other times, it is vague with an expectation to “maintain your academic performance”, so you may not know what is “safe”. If in doubt, ask the college directly.
It varies with schools. When I attended the admission info session with my D at UMich CoE, they said they rescind around 50 students every year. Not sure of that number is for CoE alone or for the whole UMich though. They admit around 15,000 per year for 6,200 freshmen spots. CoE is around 20% of the total. So it can be up to 1-4% of committed students.
