Can Umich rescend applications for having a D and a C, if you are typically a A/B Student? In the sense, I know they will send an email asking for an explanation, but I heard the chances of getting rescended are low (like only a small percentage of students get rescended every year). Also if anyone has experienced this, can you please give some insights on it??
It is a low percentage because not many admitted students will get 2 C or lower grades. At one of the CoE visit, they said around 50 got rescinded each year, but I am not sure it is for CoE alone or the whole UMich. With an average admission GPA of 3.87, vast majority have mostly A and a few B. Around 20% of students have only A in high school.
that makes sense, but could a D get one rescended?
Based on others’ experiences or ones that you have heard of, have people gotten away with it?
Yes, many saved their spots after explanation. Whoever gets one D, E , or F, or 3C will be vulnerable. You will receive a letter in June or July and ask you to explain.
Instead of trying to get away with it (your words), it might be time to get help in the subject. The very best students can find Michigan challenging, especially your first semester /year since it’s an adjustment.
“Rescind” by the way.
