<p>i was visiting the academy yesterday and i forgot to ask how often mids get into town. we went to lunch afterwards and we saw a lot of people walking around, and they were all in military dress- is that a requirement if you leave the campus?</p>

<p>Plebes only have liberty from 1200 to midnight on Saturday. They can attend a local church on Sunday if they wish. They must wear a dress uniform.</p>
<p>Youngsters have libo from 1200 Saturday to 1800 Sunday evening, however must sign in at the academy at midnight on Saturday before leaving on Sunday. Must also wear dress uniform.</p>
<p>2/C Year things get much better and libo goes from 1800 Friday (a very loose rule) to 1800 Sunday. You still must sign in every night before midnight. Also you can wear civilian clothes.</p>
<p>1/C Year libo goes from your last obligation Friday until 1800 Sunday again. Like always you must sign in at midnight every night. Occasionally the commandant will grant 1/C on academic lists weeknight liberty 2 or 3 nights a week but they must wear Khaki.</p>
<p>The caveat to all of this are Weekends/ Overnights. Your purpose as a midshipmen is to use these to maximize your fun. They allow you to get out of returning to the academy at midnight (Which enables traveling/late nights out/ etc). Each class is granted a certain number of weekends per semester. In addition when famous speakers like John McCain or the SECDEF come, we can often coax them into “ordering” a weekend is issued for the Brigade during our Q/A session.</p>
