Since everyone's talking about textbooks for school, I have a question....

If you got knowledge of the book you'd be using for this upcoming semester, and you found a free pdf version of it online, would you save money and use the free pdf version you found online, or would you spend money for a hard copy regardless?

I would vastly prefer to use a real textbook, but I might go for the pdf. It would depend on how much I was going to use it, if it was a major book requirement, etc.

I don’t like reading on the computer that much. My eyes get tired.
I’d rather have the textbook right in front of me so if there’s anything important I can just grab a post it note and stick it on the page as a bookmark. But, if it’s expensive, then I guess I might as well get the pdf.

Textbook for sure, because I could easily get distracted by being on the computer. For me specifically, a higher grade = worth the money in the long run.

I would use the PDF for sure. While I usually hate PDFs I’ve learned you can convert them to make them Kindle compatible then view them on the free Kindle app for computers or phones which makes it so much easier to read. After that you can just highlight the text as if it were a an actual book in your hands.

Hard copy, though I wouldn’t buy it new unless I had to. I rarely buy books new.

Let me say, I’m a hugeee tech buff. Needless to say, I tried the ebook trend, but it is one of the few technologies that I really disliked. I have to have the feeling of the book- the ability to flip through and to freely highlight/mark/postit. That makes my book usable and visual in a way an ebook can’t be. Also, I can’t stand to stare at the computer for reading books and a Kindle’s screen is just too small.
