how popular of a major is....

policy analysis and management in general?

for guys?

will it increase a guy's chances of admissions or decrease?

theres not a lot of guys. only a handful. dont know whether or not that will help in admissions though...actually id also like to know how good the program is

you got to cornell now? i thought that there would be way more guys than girls in this particular major, but i guess i was wrong..

so if there are not many i guess they would try to look at the guys closely just to even it out

yea i was surprised too. i think it has more guys than other majors in human ec but girls still outnumber guys by a lot but i dont know if human ecology even makes an attempt to even out genders. i mean girls in human ec sort of counterbalance too many guys in engineering so i wouldnt depend on getting an advantage based on gender.

bump bump bump

but then again a guy vs. a girl of otherwise equal merit in the hum ec apps pile may make the guy more appealing if they are going for the same thing in an apparently girl dominated school

I heard Policy Analysis and Management was the most popular of the Human Ecology majors...since it's an great track for Pre-law students.

can anyone specify exactly what they look for or what would look appealing to them when they see an application particularly for human ecology and their pam major?

I applied to human development hoping that it wasn't a competitive major. What do u guys think?

what about CAS-government?

I am thinking that government is neither too hard nor too easy...one of my friends with 2080, 3.8 gpa and decent ECs got in last year

Is CAS - English difficult?

I don't think the major really matters when u apply to CAS. So I am guessing that the general acceptance rate for CAS (about 20 % ) applies to CAS-English as well...this is just my opinion...

anyone has any opinion on human development?

My daughter is a PAM first year. She says there seem to be two sets of students, the ones who want to save the world through policy change and the ones who hope to be I-bankers. At orientation for parents the school answered a pointed question saying the recruitment for financial industry is very good at PAM. The major itself is very wonkish, and the curriculum throughout Human Ecology is front-end prescribed. There is room in the outyears for more electives. One of the unexpected pleasures was that many of the core courses are taught across the university, so there are students from all the colleges in econ, intro to PAM (which is big for buiz majors), bio, human dev, etc.
Good luck!
