How realistic are my chances for admission to top-tier schools?

Hi all,

First post here…

I’m looking to apply to Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, UChicago, Vanderbilt, Duke, and University of Michigan.

I was just wondering what any of you had to say about my admissions chances (essentially whether or not it is worth it to even spend the $500+ on applications to these schools)

My stats are as such:
White male - Parental income = 60k
GPA: 4.6 (W) 4.0 (UW)
ACT: 35

1 student out of 313

5’s on 6 AP exams
Leadership positions in community groups
Heavy volunteer and outreach work
All-state soccer player
Have my own research published through a respected university (a meta analysis detailing the effects of phosphorus loading on freshwater systems).
SAT II: Chem: 720, Math 1: 720, Math 2: 710 (Wasn’t sure if these were even worth sending… took them my sophomore year)

Thanks for any insight!

Your ECs don’t really stand out. Sorry to say that. Maybe you could shine through your essays, demonstrated interest and LORs.

Your subject test scores arent bad at all! I would include them. Colleges care more about math 2 than math 1, but always check up with your college and the major you plan on going into. Other than that you seem competitive, just lacks a little but of EC.

More extracurriculars. Use your essays well.
