I am engaged, but worry about how my future husband's income will affect my son's financial aid. He is considering a very pricey private school that has a fantastic need based no-loan program. My question is this....if we decide to just live together without getting married until my son graduates from college, can we avoid having to list his income on financial aid applications?

If you’re not married, your fiance’s assets/income don’t count. I’m sure college funding comes into play in a lot of marriage vs. living together decisions.

If you are not married, you do not list your significant other’s income on the FAFSA or the Profile. If you DO get married, you will need to provide your husband’s income and assets for both.
