How rigorous is the Smeal College of Business?

I recently accepted my admission into Penn State as a Finance major and I just wanted to know what I could expect as an incoming Freshman. What are some of the pros and cons of being a finance major at Smeal. Thanks!

You take the same classes as every other smeal major to get into Smeal. So your freshman year, ideally you’ll probably be taking Econ 102 (microeconomics) English 15 (freshman English) a freshman seminar, and some gen eds, second semester you’ll probably take Math 110 (could be taken first semester. Calculus) MGMT 301 (intro to management), SCM/Stat 200 (intro statistics), and some more gen eds.

You’ve got to have a 3.5 GPA by the end of fall semester Sophomore year and maintain it through spring semester Sophomore year to be admitted to the finance major. A 3.5 GPA is hard. Theres not much sugar coating it. These classes are also not jokes, MGMT 301 is a major pain, Math 110 is tough, (Take Stat 200 (with Roths, if possible) over SCM 200 for statistics youll thank me later). I’m doing a business minor so I basically have to take all of the smeal intro classes the business majors take
