How Schools Notify Acceptance...

@MDMomofTwo
I’m not really sure, I haven’t heard much. BTW, I know what it feels like too, I was sooo anxious on March 10 as Groton was the only school for which I applied (applied for 8th grade last year).

question: what’s the difference between deerfield and andover’s notifications? deerfield’s is considered snail mail, while andover’s is considered a large fed ex. don’t both of the schools send out fedexs for acceptances? are they just the same thing? thanks!

I was wondering the same, bender.

I think Deerfield sends a letter and then a package, but Andover sends a package with no letter. Just what I think, though, not really sure.

Do the schools share admissions lists with each other formally/informally either before or after M10? They obviously ask during interview and on apps what schools you applying to, I wonder how the information is used during the admission process. Seems like schools would want to minimize the amount of rejects, waitlist movement and finiancial aid calculations by making offers to students they know for sure are going to accept quickly. If schools know only 1 -2 offers are going to be made to a student they have more control over acceptance process.

[thread=904413]Tuft’s Syndrome?[/thread]

For Andover and Milton, can we receive envelope on March 10 or the day later? We are living an hour distance from those schools.

@Picoka - I hope that’s not true. Technically, then the schools are basically picking where we go. Plus, they kind of want all the best students themselves from my perspective.

@grotonsmart- if my D gets in- would it be OK if we send you a direct message and she ask you any questions about 8th grade???

What about some of the smaller schools like Berkshire, Williston, the Gunnery? How do they notify and what date? I’m going to be nervous all week!

Sorry if this questions has been addressed before, I can’t find the answer for it. Does anyone know if Deerfield sends there letters before the tenth so it gets to everyones house on the tenth? Has anyone got it on the tenth last year or in previous years? Also, does anyone know if this is similar for suffield? That it arrives on the tenth and isn’t mailed?

Thank you.

@iceskater96 - Yes, for those within a one day delivery radius. Yes. I don’t know anything about Suffield, but I expect those nearby will receive there decision on the 10th.

Many schools send out mail as late as possible on the evening of the 9th (or very, very early on the morning of the 10th), so unless you’re local, you’re not likely to receive notification until the 11th or later. Other schools send out mail in advance, in an effort to make sure everyone will receive their decision by the 10th. If you’re unsure about a particular school, please call or email that school directly - they’ll be happy to tell you!

For Nobles, where can you login to check your decision? I have login info for the inResonance site, will they post decisions there? Or is there another site that I haven’t found yet?

@theaterkid: Nobles told us that the decisions with be posted on the inResonance site. Good luck!

Actually

Milton-Big Orange Envelope
Deerfield- Priority USPS Next Day Mail

Thanks for clearing that up! Does anyone know if one in the midwest would receive it on the 10th? Or will it be more like the 11th or 12th?

You’re welcome glad to help! Depending on where in the Midwest you live I would wait a day or two. What schools are you/your child applying to?

I only applied to Deerfield. I know - extremely risky, but I got involved in the process really late, and Deerfield was my top choice out of the other top schools. Where did you apply, ivy?
