Acceptance Letter

I was wondering around when acceptance letters usually come from boarding schools? I've finished my apps and now I just need to wait for an answer. If you could tell me when the letters usually get sent out that'd be really great. And what happens when you're put on the wait list?

What schools are you applying to? PM me if you'd rather not post that information.

3/10 is monday, i will be in school that time. my parent will check for me. they will put school names (if i got accepted) on the car window when they come to school to pick me up that afternoon.

That's an interesting plan, march.

Yeah, the TSAO (Exeter, Andover, Choate, Hotchkiss, SPS, Taft, Loomis, Hill School, Deerfield, Lawrenceville) have an agreement not to notify applicants of acceptance decisions until March 10. Many other schools also don't make that information known to the applicant until March 10.

That may or may not help.

how did loomis, andover, exeter, SPS and the hill school notify? overnight mail? internet, and at what time? etc.

Last year March 10 was a Saturday - my S did not receive his "fat" package from Exeter until March 12 when the late mail came about 5 pm. So don't freak out if March 10 comes and goes with no news. For those schools that put letters in the mail at midnight on March 9, you may have to wait a few days.

One school told me that they would be mailing their decisions on the Friday before March 10 (the 7th) - the non-TSAO school. Another (a TSAO school) told me they would mail on Saturday, March 8th overnight so they would arrive on the 10th.

I don't think I'm going to go to school on March 10. I wouldn't be able to focus, anyway.

I know! It's going to be so hard to focus at school that day. And it's a Monday, which is already a day on which it can be hard to focus!

huh, focus? yeah right.

AHH!
we should all stay home on the tenth and talk on AIM hahah
:D

haha, my mom would never let me. i'll just have to sneak to the libraray and have a friend cover the screen (we're not allowed to check email or anything else on school computers) and find out if i'm in or not. actually, i'll probably just completely flip out and my friend will ahve to check for me. lOL.

Or you could check in the morning before you went to school.
Or stay up all night waiting for the emails...That's probably what I'll do. :D

i got one of my acceptance letters!!!! yay!!!! :) :) :)

whaat? for what school?

bongo -- where were you accepted to? you can pm me if you'd rather.

are all acceptance letters big packages? is that what i should be looking for?

Not all acceptance letters are big packages -- it just depends.

some schools will call or email before they mail you anything, others will just send a letter -- some big, some small.

do a search of the boards for the schools you are applying to and see if they say what kind of letter or how they communicated the admissions decision last year.

One school told us (of course I can't remember which one now) that they send a small letter first and then the big package a couple of days later, or something like that.
It may have been Suffield.

Bump! March 10 is a Monday this year too.
