How should I increase my chances of getting in to the Cockrell School of Engineering- Petroleum Eng?

<p>I am an International Student (Canadian/Egyptian) taking the IB Diploma course. My current IB grades are:</p>

<p>Maths HL 6
Chemistry HL 6
Physics HL 7
Business&management HL 5
Spanish Ab initio 5
English Lang& Lit SL 6
TOK/EE 2 points</p>

<p>GCSE grades: 3A*, A, 2B, 3C (not that they matter anyway, right?)</p>

<p>I'm doing some work experience this summer for one month at a, (7hrs a day*26 days=282 hours)</p>

<p>My May SAT scores.... 1710: 510 CR, 730 M 470 W</p>

<p>I lead 2 charities and a gardening club. I play tennis, and guitar, and participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold award (international award). </p>

<p>So as the title states, what do I need to do to increase my chances in getting into Cockrell's petroleum engineering? or Texas A&M's petroleum engineering?</p>

<p>get a higher SAT score for sure . at least 2000+ on it for engineering (out of state)</p>

<p>Better try to transfer in with those stats.</p>

<p>If math is your strong suit (and that 730 says that it is), then try the
ACT. I plateaued at a 2150 on the SAT. but hit a 34 on my first ACT test without practice. It is definitely designed for STEM-type people. Also, I would suggest a SAT Subject Test, particularly in Math Level II. </p>
