Math has never been my strong suit so I want to review all my algebra and pre-cal before school starts and hopefully I'll be able to be successful in Calc next year. I'm not really sure on how I should prepare for the class/exam other than getting review books and touching up my algebra skills. Do you have any suggestions? & For those of you who were successful in Calc AB, do you have any advice?

Are there any suggestions on what books are the best to review algebra/precal for Calc?

I was planning to get a review book soon and study it and read through- as though I was self-studying this summer. Which books are the best? I've heard good things about Princeton Review and I've seen a lot of people using McGraw Hill's Calc review book.

I also know of Khan Academy and several other web resources for calc but are there any that you would suggest?

Definitely make sure to review…
- Slope
- Finding the zeroes of an equation
- Factoring
- Trig Identities
- Simplifying Radicals and Fractions (seriously… so many struggle with the fractions!!)
- Mental math. Again, seriously… it’s a common struggle.
- Logarithm rules
- Exponent rules
- Sin/Cos/Tan values for pi/6, pi/4, pi/3, pi/2 and their multiples (MEMORIZED)

This packet has the majority of the topics I listed. For additional practice or review of topics not included, google “ap calculus ab summer assignment” - there are plenty of them out there!

Once you are confident in those topics, move onto limits. It’s the first topic in AP calculus. I found Princeton Review to be a GREAT tool for this topic. I was horrible at limits when we did them, but once I started reviewing for the AP test with PR, I understood them REALLY well. I liked PR all-around, but it was especially good for limits.
