Hi,

I was wondering what's the soonest a freshman at another college (in my case, university of texas) can transfer into Umich? I really, really, really regret not applying here and I stupidly didn't so b/c I didn't do that well in high school (a bit over 3.82 or so UW Umich GPA in hardest courseload, 30 ACT, OOS) and now I regret it severely b/c I saw quite a few people with worse stats than me get in (not bragging at all, trust me). So, I was wondering when is the earliest I can transfer to LSA as an econ major?

thanks, and please respond b/c I want to get to Umich (pending admission) ASAP.

You can apply for winter transfer I believe. Check the admissions website for more information.

Uh... why are you so desperate in transferring to Michigan? UT-Austin is an excellent school, both in term of academics and social/sports scenes. Why not give it a try first?

I'm not so sure about that GoBlue. Here are my reasons:

I'm from Oregon and honestly, I'm embarrassed to say that I go UT over here. Nobody has heard about it. I know that UT is an alright school, but everyone else here thinks I'm a complete idiot for going here. Seriously, the local state schools have a better rep than UT it seems over here.

If I want to do Econ, Texas is terrible for Econ, whereas I can even do I-banking from Mich.

This isn't really a reason and def not a good one, but it's hard to get excited for UT football after having been a Mich fan for all my life :D. Just sayin'.

But I can apply for a winter transfer? I want to get to Umich as soon as possible, so how would that work? Do I just fill out a transfer app or something?

Your friends are just ignorant about colleges outside the northwest. UT-Austin is at least as good as UDub, and surely your friends know about UDub, right?

For whatever it's worth, USNWR ranks UT's grad Econ program #25 and UDub's #28 ... not too shabby, is it?

And how do you "I-banking from Mich"? I'm not aware they offer such a major. I-bankers do recruit at McCombs too.

Btw, why did you apply to UT in the first place and did you have a chance to visit Austin?
