Hi, I'm going into my sophomore year at MSU right now and I've been wanting to transfer for quite a while. I going in with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and 44 transferable credits (57 by the end of this semester). I didn't have the best high school grades (for UMich standards), 3.6 GPA and 27 on the ACT. My EC's aren't the best, did some volunteer, ran track, and helped on a congressional campaign. I'm in the Honors College right now and have made the Dean's List every semester I have been at MSU. Can somebody tell me what my chances are? I'm really nervous about getting in. MSU is nice and all, but Umich would be better for my field (economics). Thanks for the help!

Everything looks good man, you’ll probably get in…you’ve been killin at michigan state. Plus, a lot of good econ students move on to Ross (idk if that means anything or will affect your chances). Truth be told, no one can really tell you your chances so don’t stress it.

I’ll be applying too, but I’m trying to go January 2014. You applying for next semester or next fall?

Winter semester 2014, so same as you. Good luck to you!

Yeah I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in. Good luck to you and Go Blue.

Hey yall, i will also be applying as a transfer for winter 2014, i had a 3.9 gpa with 30 credits my first year, had to take a smester off, and i transferred to a top 50 school and got a 2.75 gpa with 13 credits at that school so my overall gpa is 3.77 wit 43 credits. i am taking 15 credits online this fall and i have a ton of ec’s community service. my gpa was bad last semester because my uncle, dad, and grand father all died during that semester and i had to come home a lot which was a 7 hour plane ride away. i am from canada and i am not asking for financial aid or scholarships. What are my chances?

I think you’ll have a good chance of getting in. Your essay is key to your admission however because when something that affects your academic performance happens, colleges you apply to want to hear more about it. I’d suggest something that tells how those tragedies have influenced you today positively going forward. Good luck!
