How soon should a university of michigan acceptance decision arrive?

Maybe the reason it doesn’t seem like it’s alphabetical in some schools is because of a different ratio of lsa to engineering schools. At my school there were some people who heard out of the alphabetical order, but they were always applying for different school like engineering or nursing.

Yikes, almost sounds like things are done alphabetical. This really would bring me to concern since my last name starts with a B. Its really difficult to detect, but I wouldn’t be surprise if there is some order they follow when releasing decisions.

That would be one of the most ludicrous things I’ve heard (the alphabetical thing). We know that Michigan does rolling admissions and therefore the sooner you apply, or rather, the sooner they get to your application, the easier it is to get in because they have more spots left to fill and they are unsure as to what the next batch will bring. Now, if they do it in alphabetical order, then they’re arbitrarily giving the students whose last names just happen to begin with A-F let’s say a better chance at getting into the school which strikes me as absolutely ridiculous since the fact that your last name starts with the letter A rather than the letter Z is no reason for gaining admittance to a school like Michigan. I could understand if maybe they did this for regular admissions, as in they worked through the applications in alphabetical order but gave them each equal consideration, but for rolling admission that would simply, in my opinion, be unacceptable.

Alpha order theory sounds great, but alas, not true. My kid got accepted in the first wave of decisions, but is certainly not in the first few of the alphabet. I also know of others whose last name starts with an R who got accepted the same day.

I think we should just forget about all of this stuff, it is starting to stress me out!

A girl from our high school was accepted to LS&A last year in October. Her last name begins with ZU… So much for the alphabetic theory!

There’s no alphabetical thing, fyi. Two people at my school got accepted with a last names starting with W.

Decisions coming tomorrow? I was all finished by Sept 23, I really want to hear back!

I have a quick question. Because the online application becomes available on August 1st, can I get my recommendations done now, and write my essays now, send my scores to Michigan now. And fill out the application form in august, and have everything in VERY early?

I submitted my application online on Feb.1, got my decision on WA at March 3rd and received the official package at the 6th of March.

Of course. If you know the essays.
