Well for those who have not gotten email 3/4, I called and it just took them a while to get ur application completed (i.e. mine was completed Jan 10th even though I submitted mine December 16th) so the email will come the process of completing the applications was just greatly slowed down (vacations and probably the new AA laws).

But my question is I was told that my decision will come in 12-14 weeks which is bascially the time when most decisions do come out (roughly april). Will that still be considered "rolling admissions" where the applicant gets that advantage or will I jsut be put into the regular decision pool?

Well, complete Jan 10th after your app was submitted Dec 16th isn't that bad. I submitted my app on Sept 29 and it was complete on Oct 21st so, it's about right, not really that much slower even with the new AA/vacations. UMich has no such thing as a regular decision pool. Everyone is rolling admissions. The sooner your app is "complete" the early you get your decision. Alot of students get their decisions sooner then 12-14 weeks

My understanding is that the official date to decide which of your schools offers to accept is May 1st for everyone (after that the colleges can go to a waiting list if needed). Everyone will hear from all their schools in time to respond by May 1.
If your app was complete Jan 10 then it will be probably be read in an earlier group than any received in Feb.

I've heard that it takes 1-2 months by applicants and by my high school counselor. I'm guessing you'll probably hear back mid-February to early March, NOT in April.

honied_dreams: You are right, it does take 1-2 months, but that's AFTER your app is "complete". It usually takes about a month for your app to be "complete" from the date you submit it

You're setting up some artifical distinction between "rolling" and "regular." It's all rolling. The only way you'll be put in a different "pool" is if you apply after the deadline on February 1st. Michigan will often allow students to apply after Feb 1, but those applicants have to understand their applications may be considered differently. Otherwise, you're in on the "rolling" process.

Michigan makes its process pretty clear. Your application will be read as soon as possible as soon as it is complete. However, that gets you an evaluation, not an admission decision. Some very strong students will have a decision made on their application very soon after being evaluated. They may make the decision on other applications much later, if they're not sure how much room they will have for students in that evaluation category.

An acceptance was posted for D very late Thursday or early Friday AM for Arts and Sciences. I get the impression that the engineers are admitted on a much more frequent basis than arts and sciences.
