How strict are financial aid deadlines? Does missing it make you ineligible for aid?

latichever…you would need a TON of time. There are 3000 colleges…the deadlines are different for freshmen, international students, returning students, etc. AND they change every year.

EVERY college has these deadlines posted very clearly on their websites. All the students/families need to do is look for the deadlines. THEN they can set up reminders on their cell phones!

I hear on this thread that Profile needs lot of information and could be confusing compared to fafsa. I am getting ready for the next admission cycle. I found fafsa formula worksheet document to know what is being asked and get familiar with it.

Can someone suggest me if there is anything out there to get a feel for CSS Profile worksheet and see what is being asked there. Thanks!

There are a few out there if you google “css profile worksheet”

If you are entitled to federal aid (pell/loans) or state aid, you will receive that aid. However, when it comes to institutional aid, even schools with deep pockets have financial aid budgets that they adhere to.

Aid is distributed on a first come, first served basis. Unless you are attending a school with no loan policies, your being late with your paperwork can put you in a position where you may end up receiving less institutional aid (and more loans) than you would have received had your paper work been submitted on time.

Also, remember that the majority of schools do not meet 100% demonstrated need and are need aware/need sensitive. This means that if the school is close to exhausting their financial aid budget, when it comes to choosing between 2 similarly qualified students, the tip will go to the student who needs the least amount of the school’s resources.
