Hey, I am currently a junior and wondering if I have have a chance in hell of even getting accepted? I would die to go to Stanford, but I dont know what the school is looking for in its students?

Anyone who did or didn't get in can you tell me what you stats were?

God Stanford.
One last thing, if you participate in the summer program does that at all increase you chances of getting in for the fall? [It just costs a crap load of money.]

Hmm... i think if u can get selected to a competitive summer program..that may increase your chances of getting accepted...(not via some equation.. but yeah that would show you commitment and achievement and in turn make them like you more)..Also in terms of camps i think at stanford the EPGY camp will benefit you a lot...

You need to
1) Show that you are strong academically (through transcripts, test scores, awards, etc.)
2) Show that you are an interesting person (through recs, essays, activities, etc.)

If you can do both of the above in your app I think you stand a very good chance.

i agree with the above post.
enrolling in the summer programs or whatever is a waste of money.
I got into Stanford btw. But i'm not going :D

This is how you get in: you don't.

Whatever you have a love for, show that you indulge in it and LOVE it. They want people who will WANT to use their enormous bank of resources

In terms of summer programs, you really don't need to do one at Stanford in order to get in. I got rejected from the Quest Summer Program at Stanford a couple of years ago yet I was accepted into the university this year. In my point of view, you have to find a way to distinguish yourself from everyone that applies. Stanford looks more at individuality than anything.
