I'm here for grad school and find the process thoroughouly confusing. My college had printers at basically every computer station. You could just log in and print, provided they had ink.

Here, I'm told it has to be in your department (mine has no dedicated building so it's kind of awkward) and you have to buy print dollars online (?) and get a card....? Could someone just streamline it for me?

What do I do?
What is the nearest place I can do it?

I'm near the North side, btw.Near the engineering/ Fine Arts & Law area ("4" and "6" on the map).

What department are you in? Ask another grad student or go to the graduate advisor’s office or the chairman’s office and ask them.

If printing were free at UT there would be no trees left in Texas, but grad students in the sciences always have access to free printing somewhere or other, and that should be true for you as well.

I went to the PCL, went up to a machine, and bought a print card with my debit card. From there I did have trouble the first time I tried to print something because I couldn’t figure out exactly how to work the print station, but I went to a different print station that was much easier to use and things went smoothly from there.

During the library’s “business hours” you can go up to any of the employees there and they will help you. It is actually an extremely easy process, I think the problem is not knowing where to go.

In regards to free printing, I wouldn’t worry about that until after your class tomorrow. Ask your department advisors, they should help you.
