How the prestigiosity ratings became green!

I vote for niceday’s answer

I pushed with all my might. I’m small but I pack quite a punch. It wasn’t enough to get LI over the cliff. I must say I am disappointed. I really really wanted to be the one to give him the heave-ho. Oh well, someone else will have the honors. ;)

I apparently think like Xiggi. I got 50 too

But Xiggi is the one who created the question so her answer is the correct one. But niceday makes a good point about the ‘and’ but if that’s the case, shouldn’t the answer be 50.33?

a third and a half of 100?
1/3 + ½(100) = .33 +50

Gah, I need an app for this!

I suppose, it could be 50.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333. But, you gotta quit somewhere.

I’m only 15 points away. You will probably get the assist when someone scores the goal.

Just added some, where are you now?

In term of order of operation Krlilies is correct.
xigi lost. But I am the winner because I think so.

This silly real life keeps getting in the way of cc fun - I had to go back 9 pages to see where I left off and I’m finding the secret to this game is to not really play it - I’ve got more green boxes now!

I’m keeping a list and checking it twice but I’m not able to give back to those who have been green box nice…so I’ll just keep spreading the love.

A brief look tells me you funny wonderful people are doing math - I’ll look closer at this later. I’m 2 posts away from my big math problem - will I lose the junior at 300?

ps - my hat is off to any of you who have gone through PT - yikes!

Hmmm… another example of why punctuation is important:

(1/3 + 1/2) of 100 = 1/5 of 100 = 20. New answer.

I still vote for niceday’s answer though.

Nope: wrong fraction calculation
(1/3 + 1/2) of 100 = (2/6 + 3/6) of 100 = 5/6 of 100 = 500/6 = 250/3

which is niceday’s answer.

Well, someone certainly has a sense of humor: put me over the top, left a message, but didn’t sign it.

Thanks, anonymous! With a strong last minute blueiguana nudge.

Aggg! This is why I stopped taking math after junior year of HS!

Griffen, I can’t drop decimal points. I need all the change I need when it comes to the interest of my checking accounts. ;)

Looks I just gave Krlilies another square. Yeah!

And confetti247, too! But that was all the FedEx truck delivered for now. :(

Simple-I wondered where you disappeared to! Welcome back to the land of the non-productive. May you be ever showered in more greenies.

Lorem-you are wielding quite a lot of power there!

Lorem! Thanks for the promotion! I’m dancing the jig again or shall we all do the macarena, chicken, YMCA, Cha-cha slide or gangnam dance? Take your pick.

1/3 and 1/2 of 100?
That would be 1/3 plus half of 1/3.
Half of 1/3 is 1/6.
1/3=2/6.
2/6 plus 1/6=3/6.
3/6=1/2.
1/2 of 100=50.
With no regard for order of operations but with regard for how it played out in my mind.

Got ya’ll puzzled up and forced to think about semantics! That is the spirit.
